Both images come directly from Shyamalan's official site, though he brought them to the world's attention through his Twitter (@MNightShyamalan), where he also provided comments for each. The first shows concept artist Dean Sheriff at work, and Shyamalan tweeted, "This is Dean, an amazing illustrator. He’s illustrating an early scene from the film. (I’ve picked tantalizingly vague pictures haven’t I?)"

And for the second image, the director explained, "These are paintings and photos I’ve collected over the year. They are up on the inspiration wall in the art department of After Earth."

The most intriguing thing going on here, aside from the stylistic influences, are the names of locations and scenes that will presumably be featured in the film, such as "Humbolt."
After Earth was known for some time as 1000 A.E. and features a screenplay by Gary Whitta and Stephen Gaghan. Whitta wrote the postapocalyptic tale The Book of Eli and contributed to Warner Bros.' currently on-hold Akira, while Gaghan penned Traffic and both wrote and directed Syriana. Will and Jaden Smith are the stars here, but Zoe Kravitz and Isabelle Fuhrman are both said to have joined the cast. Neither has been confirmed yet.
After Earth is scheduled for release on June 7, 2013.
