Diesel posted the image on his facebook wall, along with the words, "Grateful for the opportunity to make magic... Thank you. P.s. One from the set..."

The armor Diesel's wearing there looks to be in the style favored by the Necromancer empire, of which Riddick inadvertently became ruler at the conclusion of 2004's inadvisable science fiction epic The Chronicles of Riddick. While this new film will scale back down to the level of 2000's Pitch Black, the story will nonetheless include flashbacks explaining just how Riddick went from being a spacefaring emperor to being alone on a desolate planet, pursued by a squadron of mercenaries and a bunch of hungry alien creatures.
Last week we learned that the production had locked Katee Sockhoff and Jordi Molla into roles as two of the bounty hunters hot on Riddick's tale. We've known for a while that Karl Urban is meant to briefly reprise his Necromancer role from The Chronicles of Riddick, but he's currently shooting the Star Trek sequel in Los Angeles, so it's unclear if that remains true.
David Twohy, who directed by Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, returns as writer-director on this one, which Diesel is shooting before going to work on the simultaneously-filming sixth and seventh installments in the Fast and the Furious franchise.
