New Look at Henry Cavill in His 'Man of Steel' Supergear

Months ago, when Man of Steel was shooting on location in Illinois, we were seeing photos from the set of the Superman reboot regularly.  These included plenty of looks at Henry Cavill in the newly redesigned Superman costume, as well as a small sense of the scale on which director Zack Snyder is setting up the film's action sequences.  Since the production began shooting on soundstages in Vancouver, British Columbia, though, set photos and the like have become rare.  A new behind the scenes image reminds us of the good times and provides a solid, close up look at Cavill in costume.

The image below was posted by a DC Universe movie fan Twitter (@DCUmoviepage) along with the caption, "Henry Cavill with full Superman suit, together with a little fan on the set of SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL."  No word as to just who the lucky little fan is or who was actually taking the picture.

The costumes in Man of Steel are designed by James Acheson and Michael Wilkinson.  The former has superhero experience, having designed costumes for Daredevil and all three of the Spider-Man films directed by Sam Raimi.  The latter is a regular collaborator of Synder's, having worked on Sucker Punch, Watchmen, and 300, as well as Snyder-less films like TRON: Legacy, American Splendor, and Sky High.

Cavill is the latest actor to play Kal-El aka Clark Kent, and he's joined by Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Ayelet Zurer, Antje Traue, Harry Lennix, Christopher Meloni, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Richard Schiff.

Christopher Nolan is producing, along with Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder, with everyone working from a screenplay by David S. Goyer and a story cooked up by Nolan and Goyer.

Man of Steel is a ways off, hitting theaters on June 14, 2013.
