You wouldn't really think that a book of practical advice for pregnant soon-to-be mothers would make a good or marketable movie, and technically, you'd be right. But the makers of What to Expect When You're Expecting aren't going for a literal adaptation of the book by Heidi Murkoff. In 2009, Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo's relationship advice book He's Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys was adapted by creating a series of interconnected stories based upon some of the basic tropes in the book. Naturally, the target demographic for What to Expect When You're Expecting skews female, but guys can be encouraged by the presence of some genuinely funny supporting castmembers like Chris Rock, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Rob Huebel, Thomas Lennon, Megan Mullally, and Ben Falcone, who played Air Marshall Jon in Bridesmaids.
What to Expect When You're Expecting hits theaters on May 11th.
