Marvel Cleans Up With Five Shiny 'The Avengers' Images

Earlier this week, a bunch of low-quality image scans from The Avengers made their way online after debuting in the latest print edition of Empire Magazine.  Naturally, we were happy to have some new looks at the first franchise crossover of its kind, regardless of how spotty the stills might appear.  Three days later, though, Marvel just said, "To hell with that," and kindly released crisp, clear versions of those three images featuring Nick Fury, Steve Rogers, Hawkeye, and Black Widow.

Because Marvel is a magnanimous studio, it has also provided two additional, all new images, one a close up of Fury, and the other a combo of Bruce Banner and Tony Stark looking at something interesting offscreen.

All five images are here for your viewing pleasure thanks to our merciful lords at Marvel.

So far, it's been principally the concept of The Avengers that has everyone so excited, but soon Marvel is going to have to throw with some footage that promises the team-up can actually be the movie everyone is imagining it to be.  Not to say that they've got something to prove, but all the marketing so far has felt like it's holding back, playing coy.  That probably has more to do with the fact that movie is still deep in post-production and involves no small amount of visual effects.

Joss Whedon makes his sophomore feature as a director here, working with a cast that includes, as you're no doubt aware, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Clark Gregg.

See The Avengers in style on May 4th with some Rogue 3D Eyewear.
