Another Look at Vin Diesel Getting Animalistic as 'Riddick'

More often then not, Vin Diesel plays gruff tough guys who aren't big on talking so much as they're big on driving cars excessively fast, hitting stuff, and cutting fools with aplomb.  Despite that, the man himself is quite an avid user of social media to keep his fans updated on just what he's up to.  For example, he's currently at work in Montreal reprising his role as intergalactic outlaw Richard B. Riddick in the tentatively-titled Riddick, and for months, he's kept us abreast of new developments.  Almost two weeks ago, after months of teasing with concept art and the like, he shared the first image from the set, showing himself in a rather ostentatious outfit.  Now, he's followed up that first image with another photo from the set of Riddick.

This time, he's getting his crouch on and is clutching a knife that is actually two knives.  Oh snap.

As always, the image debuted on Mr. Diesel's official facebook page, along with little explanatory note, "Being king has it's perks... yet an alpha Furyan, must return to his primitive state... that animal side. (low rumble) GRRRRR... P.s. An early pic from the set of the new Riddick film."

To put his quotation in context for anyone who doesn't really remember The Chronicles of Riddick, that sequel concluded with Riddick taking the throne of the Necromancer Empire.  Though Riddick takes the adventures of Riddick back to the R-rated stylings of 2000's Pitch Black, by stranding the character on a planet inhabited exclusively by creatures who want to eat him, it will include flashbacks explaining how he went from being an emperor to once again gutting aliens.

David Twohy, who directed both Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, returns for this back to basics sequel, and Karl Urban will appear in a cameo bringing back his character from the second film.  The new castmembers include Katee Sackhoff and Jordi Molla as two mercenaries pursuing Riddick across this new desolate world.
