Sample 'Drive' on Blu-ray With the Opening Seven Minute Sequence

There's a strong chance you may not have seen Drive in theaters back in September, and if that's the case, then it's too bad.  Drive is one hell of a movie, one that's very different from what the TV spots made it out to be.  As of today, it's available on Blu-ray and DVD, so you can rectify the mistake of not having seen it, but if you're still on the fence about this movie that looked like it could just be Ryan Gosling in a rehash of The Fast and the Furious, the first seven minutes are now available to view online, free of charge.

These seven minutes very effectively sell the movie, giving a sense of director Nicolas Winding Refn's ability to build perfect tension and exhibit a seemingly effortless, vintage Michael Mann-style cool.

The introductory sequence, in which Gosling's unnamed driver acts as wheelman in a little heist, is courtesy of Coming Soon.

There was a lot of talk that Albert Brooks would be getting recognition at the Oscars this year, but his unexpectedly menacing, mercenary turn got shut out in the Academy Award nominations.  He did pick up some notices from critical organizations and the like, though.  And he did incredible work that speaks for itself.  Also doing solid work in Drive are Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Christina Hendricks, and Oscar Isaac.  Go pick up the Blu-ray or DVD as a purchase or rental today, folks.
