Batman vs The Royal Flush Gang in a New 'Justice League: Doom' Clip

Okay, so the first live action adventure of the Green Lantern didn't prove that the intergalactic supercop could necessarily carry a cinematic franchise like his fellow hero Batman, but a new clip today provides a moment of glee for any diehard Lantern fan.  The official clip comes from Justice League: Doom, the new animated feature from Warner Premiere, which last brought Batman: Year One to Blu-ray and DVD.

This first clip from the film follows Batman (once again voiced by fan-favorite Kevin Conroy, who has been inextricably associated with the character since 1992's Batman: The Animated Series) in pitched battle with familiar DC Universe baddies The Royal Flush Gang.  While it's always fun to watch Batman brutally beat the crap out of villains, this is a Justice League movie, so we get a good moment from a certain emerald superhero voiced by Nathan Fillion, the geek-favorite actor who played Captain Malcolm Reynolds on Firefly.

Big thanks to Big Shiny Robot for the embed, without which we'd be lost.

Justice League: Doom is a loose adaptation of JLA: Tower of Babel.  Written by Mark Waid, that arc hinged upon the disastrous results of Ra's Al Ghul getting his hands on Batman's contingency plans for defeating any and every member of the Justice League if need be.  In Doom, the villains are instead the Legion of Doom, including members like Bane, Metallo, and Star Sapphire.

Interestingly, the Tower of Babel story was also the basis for Justice League: Mortal, the live action Justice League feature that came incredibly close to becoming an actual movie under the direction of George Miller a few years back.

Doom is directed by Lauren Montgomery, a veteran of DC Universe animation, from a script by Dwayne McDuffie.  The voice cast includes Kevin Conroy, Nathan Fillion, Tim Daly, Olivia d'Abo, Michael Rosenbaum, Carlos Alazraqui, Susan Eisenberg, Carl Lumbly, and Claudia Black.

Justice League: Doom will be available on Blu-ray and DVD starting February 28th.
