DreamWorks Artwork Roundup: 'The Croods' and 'Rise of the Guardians'

Since How to Train Your Dragon, my interest in the output of DreamWorks Animation has piqued considerably on account of that film's all-around quality.  While DreamWorks labors on sequels to that film, though, there are some new properties they're introducing into the cinematic wilds, and now we have looks at promotional artwork for two of them, Rise of the Guardians and The Croods.  Neither image is quite polished enough to be a final poster ready for display at a theater near you, but they provide good ideas of what their respective worlds and characters will look like.

First up is this year's Rise of the Guardians.  The basic idea is basically like a superhero team-up between holiday/childhood fantasy figures.  As a villainous force called Pitch threatens the hearts and minds of kids the world over, Santa Claus, Jack Frost, The Tooth Fairy, The Sandman, and The Easter Bunny have to band together to stop him.  The artwork below, which debuted at Bleeding Cool, puts all the characters on display:

The film is based on a children's book by William Joyce and is the feature directorial debut of Peter Ramsey, who previously helmed the short Monsters vs Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins From Outer Space.  The cast of recognizable voices includes Alec Baldwin, Chris Pine, Isla Fisher, Jude Law, and Hugh JackmanRise of the Guardians, which has no relationship to Zack Snyder's Legend of the Guardians, is set to hit theaters this November 21st.

And now for The Croods.  This one takes place in a made-up prehistorical age, The Croodacious, during which nature as we know it was still very much in flux and the world was populated by many an outlandish and fantastical beast, leaving early hominids to survive amongst strange animals and plants.  The artwork below is also here courtesy of Bleeding Cool.

The Croods is co-directed by Kirk DeMico of Space Chimps and Chris Sanders, the co-director of How to Train Your Dragon and Lilo & Stitch.  The voice cast here includes Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, and Clark Duke.  The movie arrives in theaters on March 22, 2013.
