A Bit More Body Horror: International 'Prometheus' Trailer

It's been a little while since we've heard anything about Prometheus, so how about an international trailer?  The new preview very much resembles the domestic trailer, but it's different in some crucial ways.  Most importantly, it plays up the horror element at the film's core.  Much as been made of the fact that director Ridley Scott is returning to science fiction for the first time since 1982's Blade Runner, but a lot of people seem to forget that this is still a prequel to Alien, a straight-up haunted house movie in space.

Everyone knows about the crucial chest-burster scene in Alien, and in the absence of the now-ubiquitous-and-not-terribly-scary xenomoprh, it looks as though Prometheus will play up body horror reminiscent of the face-hugging and chest-bursting.  That's a good thing, folks, as there's simply not enough Cronenberg-style ickiness out there.

Here's the international trailer, courtesy of Comic Book Movie.

Prometheus - International Teaser Trailer #1... by addictomovie

Scott, who recently signed on to direct Cormac McCarthy's The Counselor as his follow-up to Prometheus, is working here from a screenplay that stated out with Jon Spaihts and was then handed off to Lost executive producer and Cowboys and Aliens co-writer Damon Lindelof.

Noomi Rapace, who became an international name thanks to the Swedish version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and its sequels, plays Elizabeth Shaw in this prequel.  To join her, Scott has assembled an impressive ensemble that includes Idris Elba, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Logan Marshall-Green, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, and Patrick Wilson.

Snatch up some Rogue 3D Eyewear before Prometheus arrives in 3D on June 8th.
