Bro-Love and a Red Dress in 3 More 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' Images

Paramount has taken the liberty of issuing three previously-unseen images from G.I. Joe: Retaliation.  While the sequel's predecessor, 2009's goofy action-romp G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was pretty successful commercially and found some fans for its unapologetic and agreeable stupidity, these new pictures highlight two crucial things Retaliation has that its forebear didn't.  First and most importantly, there's Adrianne Palicki.  Second, there's Dwayne Johnson

Both of these potentially magic ingredients were also present in a batch of eight stills that showed up online back on Monday, but today they're more concentrated.  Palicki and Johnson are joined by Ray Park, once again working from inside of a faceless mask and black combat suit, along with a toyetic missile-spewing vehicle that will doubtless be available at a Toys 'R Us near you.

Mostly, though, there's Friday Night Lights veteran Palicki in that audacious red dress, and her inclusion here indicates that Paramount has cracked the marketing code for this movie, and the key is Adrianne Palicki.

Of note: earlier today we saw a clip from Battleship, another movie based on a Hasbro property that stars an actor most known for Friday Night Lights and hits theaters this summer.  In order to maximize enjoyment of both Battleship and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, it would be helpful for fans of the beloved series to pretend that Taylor Kitsch and Adrianne Palicki are still, in fact, playing Tim Riggins and Tyra Collete, both of whom have moved on to action-packed lives.

Jon M. Chu takes over as director, delivering his first would-be blockbuster summer movie and working from a script by Zombieland screenwriting duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.  The cast includes Palicki and Johnson, along with Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, RZA, Joseph Mazzello, Ray Park, Byung Hun-lee, D.J. Cotrona, Elodie Yung, Ray Stevenson, Walton Goggins, Arnold Vosloo, and Jonathan Pryce.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation hits theaters on June 29th.
