Rogue's BIG BREAK MOVIE CONTEST Wants You!

If you haven’t yet seen our Rogue Spotlights on what it takes to be a filmmaker in Hollywood, the best lesson you can take from them is the following from director Mark Duplass: “everyone is constantly asking me, ‘how did you break in? How did you do it?’ You have to be invited, is really the answer.”

So consider this BIG BREAK MOVIE CONTEST our formal invitation to you – the talented, up-and-coming filmmakers of our future – to break down the walls of Hollywood. We here at Rogue want to encourage the original independent filmmaking that is wanting from the current Hollywood big-budget culture.

As such, we are opening up our resources to you. As part of the BIG BREAK MOVIE CONTEST you can send your feature film directly to us for the chance to have it released in 50 AMC® Theatres nationwide. The submissions, which will be accepted starting August 16 through October 15, will be narrowed down to 5 finalists. These 5 finalists will have a professional trailer created for their film and posted online at iamrogue.com/bigbreak on December 10, at which time online voting will open up to the public to help the judges pick the ultimate winner of the BIG BREAK MOVIE CONTEST.

So what’s the catch? There is none. All you have to do is make a movie and it will be seen by some of the top industry professionals. Does the name Kate Bosworth mean anything to you? I hope so, because the acclaimed actress will be watching your movie. So will Ryan Kavanaugh, the CEO of Relativity Media. According to Ryan, “Rogue has always stood for doing it your way, breaking the mold… We are always looking for ways to support and embrace new and inspired talent, who dare to do it their way. That’s exactly what this contest is about.”

So, no matter who you are or where you are, we believe that you have the talent to take Hollywood by storm. Rogue wants to reward your initiative, brass, courage, and above all, your filmmaking brilliance.

As one of our other judges - web luminary Grace Randolph - challenges, “Think YOU can do better than Hollywood? Time to put your movie where your mouth is! Good luck - I want to pick your movie!"
