To be honest, I can’t really tell what exactly is going on in Furry Vengeance. Brendan Fraser is a real estate developer that has some issue with a bunch of animals. This includes a big old bear that he probably has some ridiculous comical fight with. The title of the movie alone is a little hard to get past, especially for critics, as the film only gathered 8% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Finishing out this week are a handful of smaller releases including Cemetery Junction which stars Ricky Gervais (a film which he also directed) about a trio of oddball friends in 70’s England. It also stars Emily Watson and Ralph Fiennes.

The Good, the Bad and the Weird is set in 1930’s Japan and it involves another trio, this time out, they are bandits who get their hands on a treasure map. I’m assuming good, bad and weird happens whilst they search for the riches the treasure might bring.

Finally, there is Dead Man Running starring 50 Cent and Tamer Hansen. This is the story of a loan shark who gives someone twenty-four hours to pay back a loan. The reviews are poor but if you dig this kind of “race against the clock” feature, maybe it’s worth a rental. Or if you’d like a completely different kind of story, there is James Ivory’s latest starring Sir Anthony Hopkins in The City of Your Final Destination.
