x-men: first class

"Mad Men" actress January Jones and rock and roll royalty Zoe Kravitz have both joined Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, reports Deadline.com. The two board a cast that literally grows larger by the day - yesterday we wrote about Oliver Platt and Jason Flemyng joining up, and the day before that we touted the Rose Byrne announcement. At the moment, there are approximately 3,259 actors in the film, and there's no sign of letting up...

Jones, best known for playing the disenchanted Betty Draper on AMC's hit series, will play "Emma Frost" in First Class; the character, in Marvel lore, was initially a villain known as "The White Queen", but eventually became an X-Men ally. Alice Eve was initially rumored to be tackling the role, but evidently that deal was never finalized and it's now Jones' to have.

Kravitz, who is also set to star in George Miller's upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road, is apparently playing "Angel". (Which, for you comic geeks out there, is most likely a reference to "Angel Salvadore", a young mutant with fly-like wings.)

Production on X-Men: First Class begins on August 23rd in London. Meanwhile, I've come to accept the idea that I'll be writing about casting news for this movie up until the day it's actually released, June 3.

What do you think of the new casting choices?
