J.J. Abrams and one of his most trusted t.v. directors, Jack Bender, are teaming up for a big-screen scarefest called 7 Minutes in Heaven. Yes, they've gone from making board games into movies to adapting make-out sessions... At least it's a persuasive title.

Honestly, the premise isn't half bad either, at least what's known about it so far. According to the Heat Vision Blog, the focus is on two teens who go into a closet as part of the titular game and find all their friends dead when they come back out. I don't know about you, but I think that's a pretty freaked-out concept. Let's just hope the payoff is as interesting as the set-up.

Bender, who directed many episodes of the Abrams-produced "Lost" and "Alias", apparently hatched the idea himself and plans on directing. Abrams' company, Bad Robot, will produce and is currently looking for writers to flesh out the concept. (Can we just assume that one of Abrams' protégés will ultimately nab the job?) Paramount, where Bad Robot has a home, is the natural choice to distribute, but that deal hasn't been made yet...

Heaven crowds the already-busy schedules of the two principals: Bender is currently negotiating to direct the new Jack Ryan film, which is also stationed at Paramount, while, Abrams is finishing work on Super 8, before moving on to Star Trek 2 - both films for, you guessed it, Paramount.

Do you think this will be another home run for Abrams and co.?
