Ryan Reynolds 'Buried'

Ryan Reynolds is emerging as the frontrunner for a coveted role opposite Denzel Washington in the thriller Safe House, from director Daniel Espinoza (Snabba Cash), reports Deadline.com.

This is the project I last told you about in early July. It has the following synopsis: When a group of villains destroy a CIA-operated safe house, the facility's young house-sitter must work to move the criminal who's being hidden there to another secure location.

Denzel is playing the criminal, while Reynolds will play the young house-sitter. I just have to wonder if Reynolds is still right for the whole "young and naive" thing, as he's 33 now and pretty much A-list. Still, his star is contunually on the rise, and Denzel is always in style, so it's hard to deny the appeal of this flick right now.

Reynolds has a whole lot on his plate right now. With Buried coming out this fall, and The Green Lantern scheduled to hit on June 17th of next year, Reynolds is busy preparing the comedy The Change-Up, which puts him along side Jason Bateman, as well as R.I.P.D., which may or may not be ready to go later this year. Still, he managed to squeeze Safe House onto said plate, so there must be something good there. Filming is expected to begin early next year.

What do you think, does Ryan Reynolds sound right for this role?
