The sequel to 2007's The Reef is set to hit VOD and DVD on Tuesday, August 28th. The physical DVD will be on sale exclusively at Wal-Mart, while VOD will provide availability through a variety of different services.
Directed by Mark A.Z. Dippé, who helmed that live-action Spawn feature in 1997, The Reef 2: High Tide picks up a year after it's predecessor. Pi, the little orange fish who proved to be the reef's big hero in the first movie, is living the good life with his wife Cordelia and their tiny fish son. The good life is threatened, however, when Troy, the villainous shark who Pi defeated in The Reef, escapes from a top secret Naval research facility that has been pumping him full of steroid. Troy and several of his fellow sharks arrive at low tide, when they cannot access the reef, but they vow to return at high tide, leaving Pi without much time to rally his fellow reef inhabitants against Troy.
Drake Bell (Drake & Josh, Superhero Movie) voices Pi, with Busy Philipps (Freaks and Geeks, Cougartown) as Cordelia and Donal Logue (Blade, Terriers) once again providing the menacing voice of Troy. The voice cast also includes Rob Schneider (Deuce Bigelow, Grown Ups), Jamie Kennedy (The Ghost Whisperer), Fran Drescher (The Nanny), and Andy Dick (Newsradio).
