The images from several different days of the shoot feature Aaron Johnson once again donning a green bodysuit and Chloe Grace Moretz's stun double in Hit-Girl's purple wig. While Kick-Ass looks to be sticking with the simplicity of dual batons and an indestructible skeleton, Hit-Girl has acquired a custom Ducati, at which we get our first peek in these photos.
In Matthew Vaughn's first movie adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita's books, Clark Duke played Marty Eisenberg, fellow nerd and friend to Dave Lizewski. In the movie sequel, as in its comic book counterpart, Eisenberg becomes a masked avenger too, and Duke's in costume as Battle Guy here. He's accompanying Kick-Ass to a powwow with Justice Forever, a crime fighting team of outrageously outfitted vigilantes. One of those is Dr. Gravity, seen here for the first time played by Donald Faison, joined by Robert Emms as Insect Man. And there's also the husband and wife team of Remembering Tommy, but we don't know who is playing them.
Vaughn is busy preparing X-Men: Days of Future Past for a production beginning early next year. Though he's still involved with Kick-Ass 2 as a producer, writing and directing duties now fall to Jeff Wadlow, best known as the director of Never Back Down, a movie that answered the age old question of when to back down with an emphatic "Never."
In addition to actors like Johnson, Moretz, Duke, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, the cast includes Jim Carrey, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, and Olga Kurkulina.
Kick-Ass 2, possibly titled Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, will arrive in theaters on June 28, 2013.
