Brett Ratner

Brett Ratner (X-Men: The Last Stand, Red Dragon) will direct Ben Stiller in Tower Heist, a comedy-thriller about a group of blue-collar guys who rob a wealthy white-collar crook in a luxury high rise. Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment will produce, while Universal will distribute.

In the film, Ben Stiller stars as the overworked manager of a luxury building who, along with other staff, lost their pensions to a Bernie Madoff-like Wall Street crook. It so happens that the fraudster is being held under house arrest in the luxury penthouse apartment upstairs, and the manager and four cohorts figure a heist will make them whole.

The screenplay was toiled over by many high-profile scribes, Ted Griffin (Ocean's Eleven), Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale) and Jeff Nathanson (Rush Hour 2) among them. The tale is one Ratner has been trying to tell for years; originally, it was to be a vehicle for four African-American actors (including Chris Tucker and Chris Rock) with their target being Donald Trump. Obviously, things have been reworked since...

Shooting on Tower Heist is scheduled to begin this November in New York City. No other cast members have been announced, but I expect a few notable names to sign on, as guys like Stiller, Grazer and Ratner have lots and lots of Hollywood pals...

Who would you like to see star alongside Stiller in Tower Heist?
