Having been turned into a vampire in the first half of director Bill Condon's two-film Stephenie Meyer adaptation, Bella is now adjusting to the oddity of immortality with the greatest of ease. Another recent clip showed Kristen Stewart and Kellan Lutz engaging in some Lincoln Hawk-style machismo by arm-wrestling on a boulder. With vampire power comes vampire responsibility, however, and now that Bella is fast and strong enough to either race or hurl a Buick, she has to make a conscious effort to be inconspicuous.
Luckily, the Cullens are so obsessed with blending in that Edward has apparently spent decades as a high school student. The clan, including members played by Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Reaser, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Green, and Jackson Rathbone, give Stewart's Bella a rundown of habits to cultivate, such as remembering to blink at least three times per minute.
Taylor Lautner's Jacob Black is around to halfheartedly mock her efforts, too.
The promotional effort on Breaking Dawn has been focused on Bella's transition into a sparkly, superpowered vampire, sidestepping plot in favor of the literalization of what Meyer's story has been saying all along: Bella's special. Now she's not special like an attractive, introspective woman, but like a mountain lion-wrasslin' superwoman. Interesting, though, that such power had to be granted by her moody, withholding husband.
Subtext aside, slouching in the presence of mortals is a small price to pay for the ability to bludgeon a mountain lion.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 marks the conclusion of the money machine for what will doubtless be a brief dormancy. The film opens on November 16th, but shows really begin at 10 pm on Thursday, November 15th.
