Four New Images from Kathryn Bigelow's 'Zero Dark Thirty'

Four new Zero Dark Thirty images are making the rounds online, and reminding us, with military precision and professionalism, that there are a whole lot of excellent actors popping up in the thriller.

The film is the second collaboration between The Hurt Locker director and journalist-turned-screenwriter Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal.  It follows the decade-long manhunt to locate Osama bin Laden, culminating in the successful Navy SEAL operation in Pakistan last year.  Considering how much ground Zero Dark Thirty has to cover, then, it's not surprising that Bigelow has a sprawling ensemble cast at work here, with Jessica Chastain as the nominal lead and roles essayed by the likes of Joel Edgerton, Chris Pratt, Mark Strong, James Gandolfini, Harold Perrineau, Mark Duplass, Frank Grillo, Jason Clarke, Jennifer Ehle, Edgar Ramirez, and Stephen Dillane.

Three of the four new images, which debuted on the film's Facebook page, put Chastain front and center.  Two feature actors with whom I perhaps too closely associate with television characters, since I'm thinking that Kyle Chandler is Coach Tayloring Chastain in one picture and wondering why she'd hang out with a stooge like Henry Francis (Christopher Stanley) in another.

Originally scheduled for a wide release in December, Zero Dark Thirty is now getting a platform release.  Sony will release the film in select cities on December 19th, after which it will expand nationwide on January 11th, hopefully building some solid word of mouth in the process.
