First 'Django Unchained' Clip: Calvin Candie's Curiosity

The Weinstein Company has unveiled the first official clip from Django Unchained

Though the film undoubtedly contains much gunfire and whatnot, this is a Quentin Tarantino movie, so this clip is focused squarely on really good actors playing a dialogue scene with relish.

Tarantino's latest takes place shortly before the Civil War and finds Dr. King Schultz, a German dentist turned bounty hunter, freeing the titular slave in order to secure his assistance in finding a bounty.  As the two become an unstoppable duo, though, they team up to find and free Django's beloved wife, Broomhilda. They locate her on a plantation known as Candyland, owned by a sneering son of a bitch named Calvin Candie.

This clip comes from early in their dealings with Candie, as Django and Schultz pose as slavery-friendly chaps in order to infiltrate Candyland.  Not yet on the plantation, Candie isn't entirely sure about the two men, particularly our hero.  Leonardo DiCaprio plays Candie like he's having a blast being a full-blown villain, Jamie Foxx keeps it entirely cool as Django, and Christoph Waltz is in loquaciously likable mode, attempting to keep things diplomatic between the two.  Oh, and hey, James Remar's in there too!

The clip is her courtesy of Yahoo! Movies.

Even though it's been scheduled for release on December 25th for a long, long time now, it nonetheless feels a bit like Django Unchained sort of came out of nowhere.  That's owing to the fact that Tarantino has been exceedingly busy finishing the movie in post-production after a notably long production based principally in New Orleans.

But the movie is finished and ready to hit theaters in twelve days.  When it does, we'll be seeing Foxx, Waltz, and DiCaprio in action, along with a pretty tremendous supporting cast that includes Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Walton Goggins, Don Johnson, MC Gainey, Jonah Hill, Bruce Dern, Franco Nero, Michael Parks, Tom Savini, and Zoe Bell.
