Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy (Inception) will join Gary Oldman, Ralph Fiennes, Ciaran Hinds, Jared Harris and Colin Firth in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Tomas Alfredson's adaptation of John Le Carre's 1974 novel.

As I wrote back in July, Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) was at one point involved with the film, or thought to be, anyway, but apparently his commitment to X-Men: First Class has prevented him from playing Spy with the others.

Here's the synopsis to Le Carre's novel: No doubt remains, a mole has infiltrated the Circus, code name for the British Secret Intelligence Service. It can be only one of four men operating at the very highest level. Sidelined agent George Smiley is covertly tapped to root out the mole, a task that requires a painstaking dig through the double-blind world of Cold War era espionage and his own past.

Oldman is playing Smiley, while Hardy will play "Ricky Tarr", who assists Smiley in unearthing the mole. Shooting begins in a few weeks for the Working Title Films production. Meanwhile, Hardy also has This Means War coming up, as well as Mad Max: Fury Road.

Is Hardy a moviestar in the making?
