These are posters for audiences in the United Kingdom, so maybe you're thinking that Cumberbatch and Eve are only accounted for here because they're British. But so is Simon Pegg, who puts on a pretty sharp Scottish accent as Montgomery Scott. Anton Yelchin's not British, but his Pavel Chekov was a standout in the 2009 Star Trek reboot, so it's been odd to see him get largely frozen out of the promotional effort on this new installment.
Enough about who somehow didn't make the cut. Let's look at who is actually present on these character posters, which are here thanks to Flicks and Bits. While Cumberbatch's scowling face has actually been the lynchpin of the Star Trek Into Darkness promotional effort, the most consistent Enterprise folks have been Kirk, Spock, and Uhura, played by Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Zoe Saldana. So they're here, too. They're joined by Karl Urban and John Cho as Dr. McCoy and Sulu, so I guess we ought to be happy that these two, at least, are joining the poster party.
Just yesterday we saw the first official clip from the twelfth Star Trek movie, and if you missed it, you can find it by clicking here. Scotty and Chekov get a few moments there, so you can take comfort in that.
It arrives in the UK a bit earlier, but Star Trek Into Darkness hits Stateside IMAX theaters on May 15th, followed by regular theaters on May 17th.
