Based on the bestselling novel by Joseph Finder, the film is the latest feature from Robert Luketic, helmer of 21, Killers, and Legally Blonde. The screenplay was written by Jason Dean Hall and Barry Levy.
The supporting cast includes the likes of Amber Heard (The Rum Diary), Richard Dreyfuss (Close Encounters of the Third Kind), Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class), Embeth Davidtz (The Amazing Spider-Man), Julian McMahon (Red), and Josh Holloway (Lost).
In Paranoia, Hemsworth stars as Adam Cassidy, an entry-level employee at the massive
Wyatt Corporation, overseen by Oldman as the cold, calculating CEO
Nicholas Wyatt. When Cassidy brings himself to
Wyatt's attention, the CEO uses his unlimited leverage to force Cassidy
into spying on his former mentor and full-time business rival Jock Goddard, played by Ford. In completely over his head, Cassidy is soon
acting as a pawn in a dangerous duel between two unimaginably powerful
captains of industry, a rivalry that quickly escalates to lethal levels of intensity. Up against impossible odds, Cassidy must rely on his wit and guile to outmaneuver both Wyatt and Turner.
Just yesterday, Relativity Media announced it's re-teaming with Hemsworth for Aurora Rising, in which he'll star as a former California surfer who joins an elite group of test pilots for a new generation of experimental military aircraft.
Hemsworth earned legions of fans playing Gale Hawthorne in last year's The Hunger Games. He reprises his role alongside Jennifer Lawrence in this November's sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He also made a big impression amongst action enthusiasts as the youngest Expendable, Billy the Kid, in The Expendables 2 last summer.
Paranoia is set to hit theaters nationwide on August 16th.
Full Disclosure: Paranoia is produced by Relativity Media, iamROGUE's parent company.
