More casting news has come in for Nicolas Winding Refn's high-octane Drive - I swear, if I had a dollar for every casting update on this flick I'd have... 'bout 4 or 5 bucks. And yet, how can I argue when each update is cooler than the last?
This time it's
Ron Perlman, best known as
Hellboy, who has jumped aboard the action-thriller, which already stars
Ryan Gosling,
Carey Mulligan,
Bryan Cranston and
Albert Brooks - not to mention the lovely
Christina Hendricks,
who was just added last week. As I've written many times before,
Drive revolves around a Hollywood stunt drive (Gosling) who moonlights as a getaway driver in L.A.'s criminal underworld. He finds himself a target after agreeing to aid the ex-con boyfriend of his beautiful neighbor (Mulligan) in a job that goes dangerously awry. The only way he can keep her safe and stay alive is to do what he does best: drive. Unfortunately, we don't know what kind of character Perlman will be playing, but rest assured, he'll be a take-no-BS kind of guy. That's the only way he knows how to play it. Check out FX's "Sons of Anarchy" and tell me I'm wrong...
How can you deny the awesomeness of the crew assembled so far?!
