Kevin James

Picture Kevin James as a mixed martial arts fighter. If that conjures up happy imagery for you, then I'm sure you'll be in heaven when you learn that Sony Pictures is developing a comedy about that very subject.

While still untitled, the studio is fast-tracking a movie that would see James playing a physics teacher whose school faces drastic cutbacks. In an attempt to save his best friend's job and the music program his students love, he moonlights in the octagon as a mixed martial arts fighter, ultimately leading to brawling in the UFC.

But Kevin James is so portly and unathletic. How in the world is going to hack it as an MMA fighter?! The scenario is heeeelarious!

The script was written by Allan Loeb, who seems to quite literally write half of the movies that are getting made in Hollywood right now. (He wrote 21, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, The Switch and has the high-profile comedies Just Go With It and The Dilemma coming out next year.) No director is attached yet.

With films like Hitch, Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Grown Ups James has proven that he's quite agile when it comes to bringing in the dough on the big screen, be it in a supporting or leading role. His next comedy, The Zookeeper, comes out next summer, and this MMA project will shoot sometime next year. (It should be noted that Sony was/is the studio behind all of these films. Somebody up there likes Kevin James!)

Are you a big Kevin James fan?
