'The World's End' Grab Bag: A Trio of Clips and a Peter Jackson Rap Session

Prepare to get annihilated.

The World's End hits UK theaters this Friday and Stateside on August 23rd.  Universal Pictures and Focus Features are seizing San Diego Comic-Con as a promotional opportunity with a panel in Hall H at 10:00am tomorrow.

If you're a Cornetto Trilogy booster who can't make it to Southern California, however, there's no need for undue fussing, because today we have a grab bag of goodies from Edgar Wright's latest.  This grab bad bag consists of three excellent clips from The World's End, as well as a twenty-minute conversation between Wright, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Peter Jackson.

Jackson couldn't bring The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug to Comic-Con because he's busy directing pick-ups for his Hobbit Trilogy, but he's still throwing his weight around with this casual chat about the new movie from once-in-a-lifetime filmmaker Wright, with whom he worked on The Adventures of Tintin (Jackson produced, with Wright contributing to the script).

A shoeless Jackson partakes in a very entertaining discussion of the origins and production of The World's End, which follows Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, both co-written by Wright and Pegg, who also collaborated on the genius Spaced.  If, somehow, you weren't already jazzed for The World's End, then let discussion between Wright and Jackson be your entry into the Cornetto Trilogy.

Hey, Spaced fans!  The first of these clips finds Julia Deakins once again playing off of Pegg.  All three provide a showcase for Pegg's exuberant performance as Gary King, a forty-year-old misanthrope who reunites his teenage chums to go back to their hometown in an attempt to complete the Golden Mile, a fabled pub crawl of twelve bars.

;

Things do not pan out quite as Gary had hoped for his nostalgic pub crawl, as the group – Pegg, Frost, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, and Eddie Marsan – discovers that their hometown isn't what it used to be.

Check back tomorrow for word from the film's panel.  And enjoy this The World's End SDCC poster.
