Larry Fong to Shoot Zack Snyder's 'Batman vs. Superman'

The Man of Steel sequel is all set to be a reunion between director Zack Snyder and Larry Fong, his frequent cinematographer who sat out the Superman movie but will be behind the camera on Superman vs. Batman.

Director of photography Fong first worked with Snyder on his sophomore feature, 300, and the duo went on to collaborate on Watchmen and Sucker Punch.  The cinematographer's credits include Super 8 and this summer's Now You See Me, as well as many a music video with Snyder.

Despite their history together, Fong was unable to team up with Snyder on Man of Steel.  Instead, the collateral damage-filled DC Comics adventure was lensed by Amir Mokri, who is currently hard at work shooting next summer's Transformers: Age of Extinction with Michael Bay.

Warner Bros. hasn't made any official announcement including Larry Fong, but the cinematographer's resume at Worldwide Production Agency has been updated with Batman vs. Superman as his most recent credit.

David S. Goyer is currently at work on a screenplay putting together DC's two heaviest hitters and paving the way for an eventual Justice League movie.  Snyder is already deep in pre-production, lining up all the elements in preparation for an early 2014 kickoff to principal photography on Superman vs. Batman, which will film principally in Detroit, Michigan.

Henry Cavill is set to don Superman's tights for the second time.  He's going up against Ben Affleck as a new iteration of Batman, one who will be around for at least a few movies in a Marvel-style crossover-heavy DC cinematic universe.  Man of Steel alumni Amy Adams, Laurence Fisburne, and Diane Lane will all reprise their roles as Lois Lane, Perry White, and Martha Kent in the follow-up, which does not yet have an official title.

Whatever it ends up being called, Batman vs. Superman is scheduled to thunder into theaters on July 17, 2015.
