As a tween, Vega starred as Carmen Cortez in Robert Rodriguez's kid-friendly Spy Kids movies, a role she reprised in 2011's Spy Kids: All the Time in the World. Now, though, a grown-up Vega is leaving behind the kid stuff and jumping into the R-rated end of Rodriguez's imagination, a place with a seemingly endless supply of bullets and breasts.
Last week, a Machete Kills clip introduced Amber Heard as Miss San Antonio, an ally to Danny Trejo's titular ex-Federale sex machine. This Killjoy character is no friend to Machete, though. Instead, she's in the employ of Madame Desdemona, the firearm-brassiere-wearing baddie played by Sofia Vergara.
Killjoy and Desdemona are just two of the foes Machete faces when he's called upon by the President of the United States. This time, Machete must stop the nefarious plan of an insane billionaire arms dealer who also keeps an army of super-assassins in his employ. Shenanigans ensue.
That's not all, folks! Thanks to Nerdly, we also have a Machete Kills poster from across the pond in the United Kingdom, where posters come in quad form.
Like the first film that sprang from a Grindhouse mock-trailer, Machete Kills is loaded with stunt-casting in a strange, eclectic ensemble. In addition to Trejo, Vergara, and Vega, that ensemble includes Mel Gibson, Demian Bichir, Michelle Rodriguez, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, William Sadler, and Carlos Estevez, an actor known more widely by stage name: Charlie Sheen.
Machete Kills in theaters on October 11th.
