Warner Bros. announced today that a new theatrical trailer for the middle installment of Peter Jackson's huge J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation will arrive online on Tuesday, October 1st at 6 am PT/9 am ET. So check back tomorrow morning for another look at the next movie, which finds Bilbo Baggins and his Dwarf buddies facing off against the hoarding dragon in the hopes of winning back the Dwarf kingdom of Erebor.
In order to make sure we were paying attention to the trailer announcement, Warner Bros. goosed its Twitter declaration with the banner you see below.
The banners see Martin Freeman as the young Bilbo, who here is on the lookout for danger with Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, Aidan Turner as Kili, Dean O'Gorman as Fili, and Graham McTavish as Dwalin. Here, the Dwarf troop is cutting through the webs of the Mirkwood spiders. Remember Shelob? We ought to be getting some more giant spider action in Desolation of Smaug.
Last year, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey kicked off this huge trilogy based on Tolkien's slight introduction to the world of Middle Earth. The story will conclude next year with The Hobbit: There and Back Again next December.
For now, though, Warner Bros. is focused on getting moviegoers all riled up for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which hits theaters on December 13th.
Check back tomorrow morning for the new trailer!
