Relativity School Brings 'Romeo & Juliet' to the All-American High School Film Festival

To celebrate the announcement of Relativity School, its revolutionary new endeavor, Relativity Media is previewing the upcoming Romeo and Juliet at New York's All-American High School Film Festival.

Created by award-winning documentarian Andrew Jenks (MTV's World of Jenks), the All-American High School Film Festival is the first-ever national festival showcasing the work of high school students.

The big event takes place at AMC Empire in New York City's Times Square.  The festival is set to be held from October 4th to 6th, allowing 1,500 teenaged aspiring filmmakers to share their short films with festival attendees.  Not only will young auteurs have the opportunity to see their work on the big screen, but their movies will be received by a panel of judges that includes Dylan McDermott and Edward Burns.

On October 4th, the All-American Film Festival kicks off with Romeo and Juliet, the ravishing new take on William Shakespeare's towering classic.  The screening will be followed by a revealing Q&A session featuring the filmmakers behind this update of perhaps the most famous story in the English language.  Directed by Carlos Carlei and hitting theaters nationwide on October 11th, Romeo and Juliet boasts a screenplay by Academy Award winner and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.  Oscar-nominated Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth star as the eponymous lovers, while the supporting cast includes Damien Lewis, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Ed Westwick, Stellan Skarsgard, Paul Giamatti, and Natasha McElhone.

The young filmmakers behind the film selected by the jury at the All-American High School Film Festival will also be awarded with a trip to Los Angeles to meet with Relativity Media President and acclaimed producer Tucker Tooley.

This is all part of the educational mission of Relativity School, the first and only school of filmmaking and performing arts created in partnership with a next-generation motion picture studio.  Relativity School, then, is where Higher Education meets Hollywood.  It's a wholly unique educational environment offering students an unprecedented experience learning about the industry from professionals with cutting-edge insight and hard-won knowledge.
