After all, the buxom Modern Family plays Madame Desdemona, a villainous character who lords over a cadre of deadly and beautiful lady assassins.
More crucially, Madame Desdemona sports an armored brassiere that spouts little gatling guns from the nipple region. When a movie, any movie, has a TV star famous for her figure shooting rounds from boob guns, it's a safe bet that this fact will be repeated as many times as possible.
Desdemona is just one of many bad guys in the Machete sequel. This time, Trejo's unstoppably badass ex-federale is called upon by the President of the United States himself to stop a crazed arms-dealing billionaire holed up south of the border. The billionaire, Luther Voz, is carrying out a nefarious plot that puts the entire world in jeopardy, and in order to keep Machete from meddling, he unleashes his army of super-assassins to take down the one-man wrecking machine.
The latest Machete Kills clip, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, finds the hero facing off against Desdemona. It contains Vergara's wonderfully shrill scream of "Machete!" that you've doubtless heard by now.
This clip also makes it abundantly clear to anyone who might still be confused that Machete Kills is definitely a comedy. A goofy action comedy, but a comedy nonetheless. That probably should have been apparent at the first sight of Desdemona's chest-cannons, but when she gets blasted ten feet backwards thanks to some defibrillators, there's no doubt that this is aiming for the audience's funny bone.
Just yesterday, Vergara was showcased in a featurette focusing on the ladies of Machete Kills, a group that also includes Amber Heard, Lady Gaga, Michelle Rodriguez, and Alexa Vega. Check that featurette out by clicking right here.
The ensemble cast of Robert Rodriguez's latest also includes Demian Bichir, Mel Gibson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens, Antonio Banderas, William Sadler, Walton Goggins, Tom Savini, and Charlie Sheen, credited for the first time as Carlos Estevez.
Rodriguez – the man who put a missile in a guitar case for Desperado and gave Savini a wiener-gun in From Dusk Till Dawn – appears to have outdone himself with Machete Kills, in theaters this Friday, October 11th.
