If yesterday was the day of the commercials for commercials – with both John Carter and The Avengers dropping tiny ten-second teases of their respective Super Bowl commercials – then today is the day of straight-up Super Bowl commercials. Earlier, The Dictator debuted its full Super Bowl spot, and now Paramount has taken the liberty of unveiling its thirty-second commercial for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the sequel to 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra that will attempt to cleanse the taste of that movie from the audience's collective palette.
Just in time for the weekend, Paramount and DreamWorks decided to lay a whole lot of Transformers: Dark of the Moon on an unsuspecting audience. First, we had a brand new TV spot, then Shia LaBeouf discussing Michael Bay, Megan Fox, and the politics of gender. Now, to cap the day off, there's a new image of the three-quel's big baddie, the cycloptic Shockwave. Not only is it a new look at the Decepticon, but there's some new information on old Shockwave's vehicular mode.
Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade is the leading candidate to direct Wolverine 2 - so says New York Magazine's Vulture blog. Apparently, the race to direct the sequel is down to two finalists: Slade and Robert Schwentke (the upcoming Red); however, an insider tells the blog that Slade has the upper hand and should get the gig.
