A year after The Avengers triumphantly capped off the first Phase in Marvel Studios' master plan, and the inaugural movie of Phase Two, Iron Man 3, has already collected $307.7 million in international markets.
So, as that sequels rolls out Stateside in mere hours, Marvel is barbecuing up a hype-steak for its Phase Two movies, and even teasing a bit of Phase Three. That means new pieces of concept art from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as info-nuggets regarding The Avengers 2 and Edgar Wright's Ant-Man.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been shooting in Los Angeles under the faux-title Freezerburn for the last several weeks. And that means unofficial set photos.
Two weeks ago, some images from the production gave out first (blurry) looks at Cap's new Super Soldier regalia. Today, though, we have new pictures of Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson in civilian togs, along with the first look at Anthony Mackie in costume as Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently shooting in Los Angeles. Just over a week after production kicked off, the first unofficial photos from the set have hit online.
They're a bit blurry, but they show Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson both taking their third go-rounds in the shared Marvel cinematic universe. Despite the blur, the primary point of interest here is the costume being sported by Evans here, an outfit that is a pretty pointed departure from the bright blue togs he wore in Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers.
Phase 2 continues unabated.
Just weeks before Iron Man 3 hits theaters, principal photography on another Marvel Studios sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has commenced in Los Angeles, California.
The entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Phase 2 sneak peek featurette is pretty much pornographic in its hype-building, its explicit laying out of first look goodies from the next two years of Marvel Studios.
We're talking about reams of revealing behind the scenes footage from Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, along with concept art and animatics from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. And the video even provides our first look at Edgar Wright's proof-of-concept test reel for Ant-Man.
Also, Joss Whedon reports promising things about The Avengers 2, even though it's early in the process of building the sequel.
If Samuel L. Jackson's one-eyed, leather-wearing, superhero-wrangling Nick Fury has a boss, then someone truly formidable has to play that boss.
Luckily, Captain America: The Winter Soldier now has Robert Redford, so it's safe to say that the S.H.I.E.L.D. brass will be believably charismatic and authoritative.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is becoming more and more crowded all the time.
The latest addition to one of Marvel Studios' four sequels in Phase 2 is a familiar, if not especially popular Marvel character: Batroc the Leaper, a French highkicker who will apparently be brought to life by Georges St-Pierre.
No less a cinematic luminary than Robert Redford is in negotiations to join Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige is a third-degree black belt in the deadly art of offering vague yet exciting insights into the always eagerly-anticipated upcoming Marvel movies.
Today, he's talking up all the forthcoming films of Phase 2, especially Guardians of the Galaxy, which he says takes place almost exclusively in outer space and is much more of a standalone movie than fans might anticipate.
Despite previous word to the contrary from the actress herself, it sounds as though Hayley Atwell may, uh, do fondue with Captain America: The Winter Soldier after all.
