Way back in July of last year, Robert Rodriguez made mention of a couple sequels during his panel at the San Diego Comic-Con.  The endlessly-discussed Sin City 2 came up, of course, but the man behind Troublemaker Studios also said that we'll soon be seeing a sequel to 2010's Machete, and it will be the second in a planned trilogy that culminates with Danny Trejo's one-man army venturing into space.  Now, it looks like Machete Kills is coming together, with an April production start tentatively planned.

So apparently Robert Rodriguez gave in to overwhelming public demand for another installment of his family franchise, finally writing and directing Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World.  In the sequel, Jessica Alba plays and ex-spy stepmother attempting to raise her new baby and connect with her twin stepkids, played by Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook.  When Jeremy Piven's villainous Timekeeper gets up to no good, the whole family, including Joel McHale as Spy Dad, are swept up into, you know, juvenile espionage.  As if to confirm that this is indeed a real thing, Dimension has released the first image from Spy Kids 4.

Today may be April 20th but to millions of potheads around the world it is referred to as 4/20, a national holiday for stoners. In honor of that, I wanted to bring you some news about the long rumored Up In Smoke 2, a sequel to comedy legends Cheech & Chong’s classic stoner-comedy Up in Smoke, which by all accounts is one of the most popular pot-movies of all time.

What's the status of fossil fuels in the world of Pixar's Cars?  Since all the sentient automobiles featured in the first film and its upcoming sequel have internal combustion engines and must then require gasoline, does that mean there are over 6 billion cars consuming refined oil and causing unprecedented environmental damage on a daily basis?  Perhaps these questions will be answered when Cars 2, starring the voices of Owen Wilson, Michael Caine, and Larry the Cable Guy rolls into theaters, but until then, sate your hunger for all things Cars with two new characters: Max Schnell and Miguel Camino.

Machete, the Grindhouse spawned flick that is giving Danny Trejo his first major leading role will be premiering at the Venice Film Festival.

And since Robert Rodriguez directed this “midnight movie”, it makes sense that it premieres at twelve am on September 1. What better way to start the witching hour with a heavy dosage of blood, brawn and babes?

'Machete' trailer slashes its way online

Robert Rodriguez and Danny Trejo go together like PB and J; the two have been collaborating since Rodriguez's 1995 action flick Desperado and you just know it's been building toward Machete this whole time. (Trejo's Desperado character even carries around a slew of sharp killing implements.) While the two have Predators on the immediate horizon, they've been busy working on this, a feature-length version of the Grindhouse trailer that kicked so much butt a few years ago.

As for the film's trailer, it's... okay. I'm not jumping out of my seat and salsa dancing. Still, the concept and cast are enough to put a smile on my face and eagerly await the film's debut, which comes on September 3rd.
