Opening in theaters on May 3rd is the new crime thriller from director/co-writer Ariel Vromen (Danika) entitled The Iceman, which is based on the life of notorious Mafia hitman Richard Kuklinski. The film features an incredible ensemble of actors that includes Academy Award-nominees Michael Shannon (Man of Steel), and Winona Ryder (Star Trek), as well as Chris Evans (The Avengers), Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), David Schwimmer (Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted), Stephen Dorff (Immortals), Robert Davi (Die Hard), and Academy Award-nominee James Franco (Oz the Great and Powerful).
IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the pleasure of sitting down with director/co-writer Ariel Vromen for a lighthearted discussion about his work on The Iceman. The young filmmaker joked about his new movie, how Philbrick actually inspired him to make a film about notorious serial killer Richard Kuklinski, why Michael Shannon's work on The Mickey Mouse Club got him his role, that David Schwimmer was cast because producer Ehud Bleiberg is a huge fan of Friends, how the movie's shoot dates were pushed because of Shannon's Man of Steel schedule, and why Chris Evans and James Franco had to switch roles at the last second.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been shooting in Los Angeles under the faux-title Freezerburn for the last several weeks. And that means unofficial set photos.
Two weeks ago, some images from the production gave out first (blurry) looks at Cap's new Super Soldier regalia. Today, though, we have new pictures of Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson in civilian togs, along with the first look at Anthony Mackie in costume as Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon.

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the pleasure of sitting down with the always lovely Winona Ryder to talk about her work on The Iceman. The Oscar-nominee discussed the new movie, how familiar she was with the true story of Richard Kuklinski before she began filming, her challenging role and the real life person it was based on, and working opposite fellow Oscar-nominee Michael Shannon.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently shooting in Los Angeles. Just over a week after production kicked off, the first unofficial photos from the set have hit online.
They're a bit blurry, but they show Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson both taking their third go-rounds in the shared Marvel cinematic universe. Despite the blur, the primary point of interest here is the costume being sported by Evans here, an outfit that is a pretty pointed departure from the bright blue togs he wore in Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers.
The Iceman cometh … to the Sonoma International Film Festival!
The festival, which is now in its 16th year, takes place in the heart of Northern California’s wine country and celebrates independent movies by showcasing a wide variety of 90 films, which include international and foreign movies, shorts, documentaries, features, and even student projects.
The five-day festival kicked off Wednesday night at the historic Sebastiani Theater in Sonoma with two full house showings of filmmaker Ariel Vroman’s new film The Iceman. The screenings were both introduced by Vroman along with one of the film’s stars, veteran actor Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), and the two men participated in an informative Q&A between the back-to-back screenings of the new movie.
Phase 2 continues unabated.
Just weeks before Iron Man 3 hits theaters, principal photography on another Marvel Studios sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has commenced in Los Angeles, California.
If Samuel L. Jackson's one-eyed, leather-wearing, superhero-wrangling Nick Fury has a boss, then someone truly formidable has to play that boss.
Luckily, Captain America: The Winter Soldier now has Robert Redford, so it's safe to say that the S.H.I.E.L.D. brass will be believably charismatic and authoritative.
Hey everybody, we've got a bumper crop of goodies from Marvel Studios' Phase 2.
These run from a featurette snippet focused on the first post-The Avengers effort, Iron Man 3, to a quartet of revealing pieces of concept art, and news on where The Avengers will actually shoot.
