Summer movie season doesn't really kick off Stateside until next week with Iron Man 3, but Marvel's follow-up to The Avengers started blockbuster season early damn near everywhere else in the world this weekend.
At home, Pain & Gain opened in first place with a pretty impressive haul for a dark comedy liberally sprinkled with really nasty violence. The ensemble romantic comedy The Big Wedding, meanwhile, pretty much crashed on launch in fourth place.
Since it was the one and only new wide release, it comes as no surprise that Oblivion was very much the busiest movie in Stateside theaters this weekend.
Synopsis: Real Hasbro heroes the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.
A new clip from next Friday's G.I. Joe: Retaliation contains nary a line of line dialogue.
And yet it sublimely communicates a universal human experience without a single word.
Today is Bruce Willis's 58th birthday, so naturally we have a little nugget for Bruno fans in the form of an international poster for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which features Willis as retired General Joe Colton, the man who formed the Joe squad.
We also have treats for anyone concerned with more musclebound leading men. We have one other international poster that showcases Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, as well as a new G.I. Joe: Retaliation featurette focused on Channing Tatum as Duke.
Two new clips from G.I. Joe: Retaliation confirm two different things we already knew about the movie, which hits theaters on March 28th.
The first demonstrates that Dwayne Johnson is playing to his strengths in this soft reboot of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The second makes it abundantly clear that a bunch of ninjas swordfight on a sheer cliff face.
Hike your pants up past your ankles, Rogues, because we're got a minor flood of goodies from G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
Storm Shadow is doing pretty well for himself.
Not only is he one of the only characters who gets to make the jump from G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra to the upcoming sequel, but he's also the subject of a new featurette promoting G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
The next action sequel starring Bruce Willis to roll off the assembly line is G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
A new clip from this month's Hasbro sequel pairs Willis with Dwayne Johnson before just turning into a compilation of Willis shooting at stuff.
