A new featurette promoting Oblivion shows off some new footage from the science fiction adventure and goes a tiny bit deeper into the movie's mysteries, but still plays things pretty close to the vest.

Two new Oblivion nuggets from around the world are making the rounds. 

Meaning that we've got a new and very effective British theatrical trailer, as well as a snazzy poster that repurposes the teaser image of a desolate Empire State Building, but changes the emphasis to Tom Cruise and a futuristic rifle.

As of today, Tom Cruise is once again playing an action hero nationwide, this time with Jack Reacher.  In just a few months, though, Cruise will be roaming a post-apocalyptic Earth with many secrets in Oblivion, the sophomore feature from director Joseph Kosinski. 

The sci-fi film's first trailer arrived online a few weeks back, and now Kosinski himself is providing an audio guide to accompany that trailer.

Earlier this week, an inaugural theatrical trailer provided a first look at Oblivion, a science-fiction adventure starring Tom Cruise.  That trailer supplied lots of slick visuals and built up a sense of mystery about the desolate, post-apocalyptic setting.  While he's not exactly spilling all the beans on Oblivion, director Joseph Kosinski is talking about the movie's story, influences, and style.

On Friday, Universal Pictures revealed a teaser poster for Oblivion, the sophomore feature from TRON: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski, with a promise that the trailer would arrive on Sunday.  Well, arrive it has, and the inaugural Oblivion trailer is less teasery than anticipated, dropping Tom Cruise into a postapocalyptic future that isn't what it seems.

Director Joseph Kosinski made his feature debut with TRON: Legacy, a big science fiction movie for Disney two years ago.  Now, he's working on his sophomore feature, Oblivion, a big science fiction movie for Universal Pictures.  Brewing even before the TRON sequel's release, Oblivion is currently in production starring Tom Cruise as a futuristic solider who gets mixed up in some serious shit.  That's my summation of the story, but today Universal issued the first official plot synopsis for the movie, which is actually based on a comic book by Kosinski, Arvid Nelson, and Andree Wallin.

After technically making the biggest directorial debut feature ever with TRON: Legacy, Joseph Kosinski's sophomore movie, Oblivion, is on track to start principal photography next month in Louisiana.  Tom Cruise has been involved with the epic science fiction tale since before TRON: Legacy even hit theaters, but with production about the get underway, we're now hearing some casting news.  The latest addition to Oblivion is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, best known as a warrior who always pays his debts on HBO's Game of Thrones.

Morgan Freeman is a gravitas machine, capable of making anything seem hugely important or especially wise in his own easy way.  It doesn't matter if he's in classy picture like The Shawshank Redemption, unapologetic nonsense like Wanted, or a massive blockbuster like The Dark Knight, it's just what Freeman does.  And it's apparently what he'll be doing alongside Tom Cruise in the science fiction actioner Oblivion, as the Oscar winner has apparently joined the cast of the film, which has also been widely referred to as Horizons.
