Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs is a dense, unflinching meditation on masculinity and violence, starring Dustin Hoffman as an academic who moves with his wife (Susan George) to the seemingly idyllic English countryside, where rough and tumble locals end up harassing the with escalating intensity.  Since it's a faultless, just about perfect film, it's naturally been remade, with the action instead taking place in the American South, with James Marsden and Kate Bosworth standing in for Hoffman and George.  The first Straw Dogs trailer debuted today, so give it a watch to see Alexander Skarsgard terrorizing the couple.

Rogue 5: Kate Bosworth's Best Flicks

Wednesday, 01 December 2010 15:17

We love Kate Bosworth! She has a fresh and natural beauty that really shines on screen. Back in 2002, she first appeared as Judith – a supporting role in The Horse Whisperer. Since then, she made the guys fall in love with her in Blue Crush. She even fell into the arms of Brandon Routh’s Superman for Superman Returns.

In her latest, The Warrior’s Way, she causes a little damage of her own along with Jang Dong-gun. And frankly, it’s a pleasure to see her throwing knives around and getting the chance to be tough!

iamROGUE.com takes a look back at Kate’s past work as we narrow down our 5 favorites.

Rogue 5: Awesome Geoffrey Rush Performances!

Tuesday, 30 November 2010 15:52

Geoffrey Rush exploded onto the scene with his phenomenal performance in Shine. His portrayal of David Helfgott was near perfect. His work earned him critical praise and a well deserved Academy Award for Best Actor. His fearless performance has launched this talented actor into a very successful career, one which is as varied as it is inspired.

You have to respect an actor that takes chances as Mr. Rush has done. Whether appearing in films which are geared for the Oscar race or simply doing a genre film that has a wild and quirky role for him to play, he is also in top form.

Pros and Cons: Pirates vs. Ninjas

Tuesday, 30 November 2010 15:16

This is an exciting week here at iamROGUE.com! With the release of The Warrior’s Way only a few days away, we can’t help but think about men in black who sneak through the night. With swords a slashing and martial arts a mastering, the ninja warriors are bad ass in every sense.

In fact, December 5th is National Ninja Day! You can go onto Facebook and join in the festivities, whatever that happens to be. Either way, it sounds like International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19th, and the whole pirate love (Thanks to Johnny Depp) is getting some stealth competition.

So the continued battle between Pirates vs. Ninjas continues on the web, with on-line games, chat room fun and of course movies! Below, we take a look at the pros and cons of being a ninja and a pirate. This may help those that are on the fence regarding the entire matter.

Ninja Pros and Cons

Pros:  Ninjas are fast and can attack their opponent quickly and quietly.

They oftentimes wear all black and that looks cool.

The weapons are sick and deadly, they can cause serious damage when necessary.

Cons: Ninjas don’t seem to have any fun.

They don’t really get to talk to anyone; generally ninjas are not the most vocal.  Sucks if you like to chat.

When they get together, it’s all kill or be killed.

Pirate Pros and Cons

Pros:  Pirates like to chill on their boat and drink a ton of ale.

They get to carry guns, so even if they are drunk, they can shoot you accidentally.

They do what they want to do, pillage, steal your women, whatever they’re in the mood for.

Cons: Don’t fight drunk… it’s ineffective.

They spend way too much time at sea with only a bunch of drunken men for company.

They have too much fun and sometimes aren’t that bright.

Bottom line: If you are looking for fun, a pirate ye may be! However, if you prefer to wander these streets under the cover of darkness… you are silent and deadly like a ninja!

This December 5, you might as well celebrate right and go see a cool ninja flick! The Warrior’s Way opens this Friday, December 3! This weekend, be badass, vote ninja!

Ninjas or Pirates? What be ye pleasure?
