Last night, Get the Gringo had its official world premiere at the famous Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas.  Directed and co-written by Adrian Grunberg, the film is a hard-boiled blend of action and drama that stars Mel Gibson as Driver, an American criminal attempting to outrun the U.S. Border Patrol.  When he survives a horrific car accident, he finds himself South of the border, in a dangerous Mexican prison.  His only ally in the merciless environment ends up being a ten year-old boy.

IAR attended the Los Angeles theatrical feed of Get the Gringo.  The film itself was followed by a live Q&A session with Gibson, who also contributed to the screenplay, along with director Grunberg and co-star Kevin Hernandez

During the Q&A, moderated by Ain't It Cool's Harry Knowles, Gibson provided an update on his Untitled Viking Project, as well as his possible involvement in the Machete sequel, and thoughts on Lethal Weapon 5 and the Mad Max franchise.

British actor Tom Hardy has come an awful long way and gained an awful lot of muscle mass since playing the skinny Shinzon, the equally bald and thoroughly villainous clone of Captain Picard in 2002's Star Trek: Nemesis.  Since earning no end of praise as the title character Nicolas Winding Refn's Bronson, Hardy has lined up an impressive assemblage of noteworthy upcoming roles, including taking over for Mel Gibson as the eponymous postapocalyptic badass in George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road.  Right now, though, he's in Pittsburgh filming The Dark Knight Rises with his Inception director Christopher Nolan.  The forthright actor recently talked about playing the musclebound baddie Bane and may very well have spilled some spoilerific beans about the story.

The long developing, Mel Gibson-less Mad Max back-to-back sequels tentatively-titled Fury Road and Furiosa were all set to begin production in January of this year in the Australian outback, with Inception's Tom Hardy set to take over for Gibson as Max Rockatansky.  On top of that, Charlize Theron, Teresa Palmer, and Nicholas Hoult were also on board.  Unfortunately, Biblical rainfall flooded Australia, making the Outback ill-suited to portray the arid, post-apocalyptic setting.  George Miller, the man who created the franchise, insists that the automotive mayhem will happen in January 2012.

"Mad Men" actress January Jones and rock and roll royalty Zoe Kravitz have both joined Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, reports Deadline.com. The two board a cast that literally grows larger by the day - yesterday we wrote about Oliver Platt and Jason Flemyng joining up, and the day before that we touted the Rose Byrne announcement. At the moment, there are approximately 3,259 actors in the film, and there's no sign of letting up...

Riley Keough, perhaps better known as Lisa Marie Presley's daughter and the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, has been tapped to co-star alongside Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road (aka Mad Max 4).

The actress is still "in talks" for the role; Keough would play one of the "Five Wives", a group of women that Mad Max (Hardy, Inception) is protecting. Teresa Palmer, Adelaide Clemens and Zoe Kravitz play three of the other wives. (Kravitz herself is the daughter of musician Lenny Kravitz.)
