As a follow-up to John Carpenter’s highly successful Halloween (1978), he and Debra Hill decided to make a very different type of film. With The Fog (1980) they presented to audiences an atmospheric ghost story which may have had a little more gore and extra star power thanks to some genre favorites, but it still relied on suspense and a creepy synth score. What he ultimately created was an unforgettable tale of a town surrounded by a deadly fog… well, what was in the fog was deadly.
