Seven years ago, The Notebook arrived in theaters and immediately became a Valentine's Day standby, the sort of movie that inspires tears of the very best kind in women and men of every demographic.  That film was based on a novel by bestselling author Nicholas Sparks, whose storytelling secret is simply to tell stories well, in an earnest and romantic manner with which readers can connect.  His literary popularity has translated successfully to subsequent films, including Dear John, Nights in Rodanthe, and The Last Song.

His latest novel, Safe Haven, is now available in paperback, meaning you can pick up a copy well before the movie version hits theaters.  The novel is currently being developing into a feature film at Relativity Media.  Lasse Hallstrom, the Oscar-nominated director of The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, and What's Eating Gilbert Grape, is attached to direct, marking his second time tackling a Sparks' novel, having helmed 2010's Dear John starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried.

Relativity Media announced release dates for two very different films due in 2012.  First, there's Safe Haven, a romance adapted from the novel by Nicholas Sparks, who also wrote The Notebook.  That  film will hit theaters during superhero season in just over a year, on June 1, 2012.  The submarine-action thriller Hunter-Killer, from veteran action director Phillip Noyce, now has a December 21, 2012 release date.  Additionally, Relativity has moved the release date of the Julia Roberts-starring Untitled Snow White Project to March 16, 2012.

With starring roles in films including The Notebook, Morning Glory, and Wedding Crashers, Rachel McAdams has demonstrated that she can carry a romance with seemingly effortless charm.  In Midnight in Paris, the latest film from writer-director Woody Allen, she plays Inez, a character with considerably less charm than we're accustomed to from the actress.  Inez and her fiance Gil, played by Owen Wilson, are on a trip to Paris with her city, and while screenwriter/aspiring novelist Gil is so taken with the city that he finds himself inadvertently traveling back in time to the 1920's, Inez resists the romance of Paris.  Unlike her character, Rachel McAdams enjoys the City of Lights, as she discussed in a roundtable interview with IAR and several other outlets.  Read on for her thoughts on Paris, Woody Allen, time travel, her co-stars, and nostalgia.
