Grizzled Bond in a Stylish New 'Skyfall' Image

Wednesday, 01 February 2012 08:59

A couple weeks ago, the first official image from the twenty third onscreen adventure of superspy James Bond made its way online, but today we have a second "first" official image from Skyfall.  I'm not entirely certain what the deal is, since that first still of Bond hanging out poolside was definitely legit, but the marketeers or whomever else behind the scenes have decided to call this new image the first official image from Skyfall.*

It's certainly more in line with what you'd expect from a Bond still.  Rather than having Daniel Craig in silhouette by a pool demonstrating his love of aquatic recreation, it has Craig with his pistol at the ready, looking ready to beat the piss out of someone in a rather blue-hued room.  He's also rocking quite a bit of stubble, suggesting that perhaps there's a bit of strain on the debonair Mr. bond this time around.

The very first official still from Skyfall, the twenty-third theatrical adventure of spy and sex-machine Bond, James Bond, has arrived online.  As played by Daniel Craig, the iconic character created by Ian Fleming is a man of many talents, including, but certainly not limited to: shooting, running, jumping, punching, chasing people or objects, charming beautiful women, and, crucially, swimming.

The first Skyfall image features Craig hanging out poolside at the Four Seasons in London.  And that's about it.  A nicely-lit, good looking image, no doubt, but hardly one that promises big action or high stakes drama.  Instead, the principal selling point here looks to be the in-shape Craig, whose nearly visible buttcrack provides plenty of drama, putting the viewer right on the edge of their seat.

Last week, you may very well have noticed a fresh Skyfall rumor bubbling up from the fathomless depths of the internet.  There's never been a shortage of outlandish rumors regarding the next adventure of supersuave superspy James Bond, but this particular rumor had that ring of credibility.  Word was that composer Thomas Newman would be imminently signing on to provide the score for the twenty-third cinematic outing of Ian Fleming's lady-loving MI6 asset.  Now, we've got official confirmation that Newman will indeed be providing musical accompaniment for director Sam Mendes's first action movie.

Patrick Doyle Scoring Pixar's 'Brave'

Wednesday, 06 July 2011 15:56

Now that Cars 2 has settled into its theatrical run, all Pixar-related attention turns towards the animation studio's next original effort, the medieval Scottish adventure Brave.  Disney and Pixar have been slowly but surely easing up on the secrecy surrounding the project, what with the release of the oh-so pretty teaser trailer that preceded Cars 2, and now comes news that director Mark Andrews will not be relying on one of Pixar's regular stable of composers to create a distinctly Scottish score.  Instead, he's turning to native Scot Patrick Doyle.
