A few weeks back, Disney basically said, "It's not you, it's me," to Joseph Kosinski's Horizons, formerly titled Oblivion, which it acquired in a heated bidding war last summer, well before Kosinski's feature directorial debut Tron Legacy hit theaters.  Since the House of Mickey and Kosinski are going to stay friends, though, Disney allowed to the director to see other studios and shop his ambitious science fiction project around town.  Well, it appears that Horizons may well have found a new squeeze at Universal Studios.

Viggo Mortensen spent weeks in negotiations to join Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron in Universal's Snow White and The Huntsman, but the actor has officially passed on the film, which now finds itself in need of a new Huntsman.  And since Darren Aronofsky departed The Wolverine, Hugh Jackman might just have some free time in his schedule.  At least Universal hopes so, as they've offered the role of the Huntsman to Mr Jackman.

While the original cut of the film, due out this December, didn't include Hoffman, Universal saw fit to film at least four new scenes featuring the Oscar-winning actor, as well as his on-screen Focker wife, Barbara Streisand.

Model Brooklyn Decker sinks your 'Battleship'

Wednesday, 18 August 2010 13:35

The cast of Peter Berg's Battleship keeps growing - stranger and stranger that is. Victoria Secret Model/burgeoning actress Brooklyn Decker has joined the alien invasion action epic. The Sports Illustrated cover girl will play along side Rihanna and be the love interest of Taylor Kitsch's lead character. Meanwhile, this is shaping up to be a very random cast. Not an insult to the eclectic group, it's just... well, bizarre.

Pajiba is reporting that Terminator: Salvation director McG is circling an adaptation of the Dark Horse comic R.I.P.D, a supernatural buddy-cop property that has Ryan Reynolds attached to star. McG is currently working on This Means War, which he's been developing for years, and sees R.I.P.D. as an ideal follow-up.

However, the L.A. Times is chiming in with the news that Universal is very eager to put R.I.P.D. on the fast track, and may not want to wait for McG while he prepares War (which has seems its share of problems and delays but looks like it's finally ready to get going); the studio has flirted with Rawson Marshall Thurber (Dodgeball) and David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) for the gig, but neither appear to be the man for the job. The Times notes that McG and the producers have met and are all on the same page, so it's just about scheduling at the moment. The idea is to get cameras rolling at the end of this year/beginning of next, a short window for all involved.
