What if I told you there was a new short film in which Jennifer Garner uses flamboyant lies and occasionally bawdy innuendo to attract the attentions of Alfred Molina as an increasingly exasperated priest?  You'd want to check that out, right?  After all, it's the erstwhile Elektra Natchios and Doc Ock sharing a confessional.

Garner and Molina star in Serena, a short clocking in at just under twelve minutes, during which Garner plays the title character, a woman who is running out her priest's patience, but for fascinating reasons.  Serena is written and directed by Rodrigo Garcia, the man behind last year's Oscar-nominated Albert Nobbs and episodes of the HBO series In Treatment and Six Feet Under.

"We're like a two-headed monster," grins Monica West, one-half of MVPleez.

Her other half, Valentine Bureau, wholeheartedly agrees with a chuckle. The New York-based comedy duo definitely operates with one clear goal in mind—to make you laugh.

They succeed immensely with their hilarious music videos and sketches on YouTube. You can see them causing havoc in "Criminal", chiding the "Worst Texter Ever", or spending like a rap superstar on "Tax Refund Time". All along the way, their sharp, satirical humor remains utterly fresh and righteously funny. With hip hop flavor and theatrical panache, the MVPleez monster is about to become a bona fide 21st century comedy goliath.

In this exclusive interview with ARTISTdirect.com editor in chief Rick Florino, MVPleez talk creating their videos, musical influences, near-jail experiences, mistakes boys make, and so much more…

Must Watch: Badass 'Haywire' Inspired Videos

Wednesday, 18 January 2012 08:56

In Haywire, the new action film from director Steven Soderbergh, Mixed Martial Arts star Gina Carano plays Mallory Kane, a special ops-trained mercenary who finds herself betrayed by her superiors and those she trusted most.  The unstoppable Kane must then get to the bottom of the mystery negotiating between a cast of enemies and allies played by Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Michael Fassbender, and Michael Angarano.

Inspired by Soderbergh's unique command of stylish action and Carano's badass heroine, Go Haywire is a new interactive thriller, a series of shorts that transpose the bone-crunching action to the realm of YouTube.  After her facebook friends abandon her online, YouTube star Olga Kay vows to take her two-fisted revenge.  With the help of Aaron Cohen, the Special Forces adviser on Haywire, Kay trains herself to be a whirlwind of supercool action, taking on her nemeses Joe Nation, Toby Turner, and Michael Gallagher of Totally Sketch.  Since Go Haywire is an interactive thriller, you get to choose the order in which Kay decimates her opponents.

For those of you not aware of what VidCon is, or haven't had a chance to check out iamrogue's coverage of Industry Day, here is a summary: it's where online video stars go to be worshipped.

Okay, it's not just that, though the center of the event most definitely focuses on giving the online video community one-on-one facetime with the creators they admire.  While mainstage performances felt more like attending concerts, there was also just as much educational programming included: break-out sessions, panel discussions, and presentations were spaced evenly with Q & A sessions and musical performances.
