In the months leading up to the theatrical release of last year's The Muppets, we saw a procession of trailers parodying the styles of other familiar movie promotions.  These included Muppetized parody trailers happily spoofing The Hangover 2, Green Lantern, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Paranormal Activity 3, Happy Feet 2, Puss in Boots, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.  You probably thought that they were done, but with The Muppets arriving on Blu-ray and DVD later this month, Disney has taken the opportunity to parody the trailer for The Hunger Games.

Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve.  For two consecutive years, director Garry Marshall and screenwriter Katherine Fugate served up holiday-themed ensembles unreasonably packed with bankable movie stars and romantic comedy cliches.  Had New Year's Eve been a bigger hit, you can only imagine that we have spent the next several years besieged by these novelty offerings until the holidays were finally exhausted.  That could still happen, actually.  But even if it does, we'll always have MLK Day, a parody trailer for a fictitious romantic comedy that expertly eviscerates the cloying, manipulative style of those films.

Much like a junkie who swears he's coming back for just one more hit of that sweet, sweet black tar, The Muppets can't stop releasing new little parody-style trailers.  Two weeks ago, what was supposed to be the last one disappeared up its own meta-hole and even poked fun at Paranormal Activty 3, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Puss in Boots, and Happy Feet Two.  Now though, yet another parody trailer entered the world today, and it shows The Muppets going a little bit Bollywood, with many of the film's copious musical moments playing out to some thoroughly Indian musical accompaniment.  And as a bonus: NPH himself, Neil Patrick Harris, makes an appearance.  At this rate, Kermit and the rest of Jim Henson's puppet cadre will probably still be showing up in trailers after the movie actually hits theaters, perhaps randomly in trailers for other movies.

By now, trailers and TV spots featuring Ryan Reynolds reciting the Green Lantern oath have become downright inescapable.  Another recognizable green character fills in for the cosmic cop in this trailer for The Muppets, with Kermit the Frog reciting an oath of his own.  This is the third clever little trailer homage from the film, which stars Amy Adams, co-writer Jason Segel, and the entire Muppet gang (Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, et al.), following the fake-out pseudo-movie Green With Envy and The Hangover Part II-style 'The Fuzzy Pack.'  If you got a kick out of those, then 'Being Green' won't disappoint.
