After that avalanche of The Dark Knight Rises material earlier today, it seems only right that this summer's other remaining superhero movie should get a moment to shine.  That would be The Amazing Spider-Man, and it's shining through three new image scans, two of which highlight Dr. Curt Connors at different stages in his transformation into the villainous Lizard.  Another shows what happens to a high school chemistry lab when a giant lizard-man fights a nimble spider-man.

Last summer, when the massive production was shooting all over the world, we were already in danger of The Dark Knight Rises overexposure.  The pre-existing white-knuckle, mouth-foaming anticipation for the last entry in this Batman trilogy doesn't mean that Warner Bros. is resting on any laurels in promoting Christopher Nolan's last Bat-movie.  Quite the contrary, folks.

A quartet of new behind the scenes images from The Amazing Spider-Man have emerged online.

While the second full-length trailer released this month displayed plenty of CGI webslinging, one way in which director Marc Webb and co. are distancing the reboot from the previous films by Sam Raimi is by utilizing an even greater amount of live stunt work for Peter Parker's preferred mode of transport.  These images focus on that stunt-y business, with Andrew Garfield and his stunt double William Spencer on set doing Spider-Man stuff.

Novelist James Patterson's signature character is getting a cinematic reboot based upon the novel I, Alex Cross and titled, appropriately enough, Alex Cross.  Previously played by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, the detective will this time be portrayed by Tyler Perry, stepping out of his Madea outfit and into a thriller.  A batch of images from Alex Cross provide our first looks at Perry in character.

Three stills from Taken 2 have premiered online, providing our first look at the sequel due this Fall.  As you'd expect, all three feature Liam Neeson as Bryan Mills, a man who famously possesses a very particular set of skills.  Those skills are in ample evidence as Mills aims a gun, puts his bearclaw-sized palm on some henchman's face, and generally looks like an indomitable son of a bitch.

Earlier this week, you may have seen the featurette exploring the thematic underpinnings of Prometheus.  If so, then you might be interested in a batch of new stills from the film, as well as yet another featurette.  This one admittedly very similar to the last, though entirely more thorough, including additional material from the film, behind-the-scenes footage, and interviews with director Ridley Scott, screenwriters Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, and stars Noomi Rapace, Logan Marshall-Green, and Michael Fassbender.

With a certain Marvel Studios superhero team-up making money hand over fist in record-breaking amounts of time, there's been a lot of discussion about the box office fate of the third and final installment in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.  All this talk of comparative opening weekends is not only premature, it misses the basic and undeniably happy point that this a summer in which we're treated to both The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises.

Earlier this week, two new images from The Amazing Spider-Man showcased Andrew Garfield as the title character in Sony's superhero reboot.  Though we're about two months out from the film's release and he's been featured fleetingly but effectively in a trailer, The Lizard is still a shadowy figure, and unless you saw lat year's Comic-Con footage or this year's sizzle reel, you haven't gotten a good full-on look at Dr. Curt Connors' alter ego.

Three new images from Pixar's next feature, Brave, have arrived online for your viewing pleasure.  For quite some time, this film was being made under the working title The Bear and the Bow, and both formerly-eponymous elements are on display in these new stills.

Princess Merida is lining up a shot with her bow in the first image.  In the second marvelously-lit still, she's airborne between a friendly-looking bear and a rather intimidating bear claw.  Then, in the third, we see a trio of teeny, tiny little bearcubs who suspiciously resemble Merida's mischievous little brothers.  They're also so cute you'll want to puke skittles just looking at them.

How about we start this week off with three new Looper-related images?

Earlier this month, we saw the first trailer for Rian Johnson's third theatrical feature, and that trailer laid out the film's basic time-travel premise.  The idea is that, in the future, time-travel exists but is completely illegal and used almost exclusively by criminals sending victims back in time so as to leave no evidence of murder.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a looper, a guy who kills people sent back in time, but who has a problem when his latest hit turns out to be himself in the future.
