Rogue of the Week: Dobby

Dobby was never the coolest kid on the block. He would show up and you might hear a groan or two. In many ways, he was the Jar Jar Binks of the Harry Potter world. How things change!

Even with his annoying traits, you could never fully dislike the little house-elf. How could you think bad thoughts about this poor little abused creature? After all, Dobby suffered a lot at the hands of the Malfoy family. He was also used as a pawn to try and destroy Harry which never really worked. It wasn’t until Harry turned the other cheek and was able to set the tortured elf free. A bond had been forged!

Being the loyal creature he was Dobby had helped Harry from then on, through good times and bad. While ever the nuisance, he and Potter’s relationship had gained some respect, yet it was beset with frustration and irritation. At times, the more he would do the less it helped Harry, Ron and Hermione.

In Deathly Hallows however, he fights alongside the threesome and battles Bellatrix Lestrange. In what is arguably their most challenging battle, Dobby came through and offered his friendship and loyal camaraderie. This is what made him special!

Dobby went from being one of the most annoying little runts to a beloved and integral part of Harry Potter’s team. Without giving away any spoilers in regards to Harry Potters and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Dobby is officially our Rogue of the Week!

What is your favorite Dobby moment?
