Sin City: A Dame to Kill For will arrive in theaters more than ten months later than we expected.

Helen Mirren playing an unstoppable badass of an assassin is fun.  That's just a fact.

These two TV spots for next month's Red 2 know that, so naturally, there's no shortage of Mirren doing ridiculously slick action movie stuff while being such a classy, elegant dame.

What, according to the latest one sheet for this summer's Red 2, do the best never do?

Hint: it rhymes with "best."

Like its hero, the Die Hard franchise doesn't know when to quit.

Even after the cinematic shamblefest that was A Good Day to Die Hard, the most preliminary plans for Die Hard 6 remain afoot.  And according to new rumor, the sequel reportedly being referred to as Die Hardest now has a writer working on a treatment for what we can only hope will be one last John McClane adventure.

The theatrical trailer for Red 2 is safe for all ages action comedy antics. 

Which is much appreciated, because a red band Red 2 trailer would most assuredly lead to a catastrophic pun overload.

Poster-palooza 2013 continues unabated.

When Summit Entertainment trotted out a pair of Red 2 character posters on Tuesday, it was obvious that we'd be seeing a whole lot more showcasing the sequel's ensemble cast sooner or later.

Turns out it's sooner rather than later, because today we have four more posters for this action-comedy, which is set to arrive in theaters nationwide on July 19th. Coincidentally, that also happens to be the release date of R.I.P.D., a supernatural action-comedy from original Red director Robert Schwentke.

Posters must be an inexhaustible resource, as this summer's would-be blockbusters are rolling out truckloads of character posters at a pretty wild pace.  Almost every event movie is apparently aiming to have around a dozen character posters by the time it hits theaters.

Red 2 is getting on the character poster game, as Summit Entertainment has revealed the first of what doubtless be many, many Red 2 posters.  These ones feature Bruce Willis and John Malkovich, once again playing Frank Moses and Marvin Boggs, two ostensibly retired espionage masters who are still adept at blowing stuff up.

Golden Globe, Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Mary Louise Parker (TV’s Weeds) has not one, but two upcoming films based on popular, yet lesser-known comic books both opening in theaters on July 19th. 

Parker will soon be seen reprising her role as reluctant heroine Sarah Ross opposite Bruce Willis’ Frank Moses in RED 2, the sequel to the popular 2010 film based on Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner’s comic book series of the same name. The new film will continue to follow Moses and his team of retired CIA operatives, now on a brand new adventure. Joining Parker and Willis will be the original film’s co-stars John Malkovich, Brian Cox, and Oscar-winner Helen Mirren, as well as new additions, Academy Award-winners Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Since Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman’s character was killed off in the first movie, he will not be returning for the sequel, and neither will the original movie’s director Robert Schwentke, who was replaced by Galaxy Quest’s Dean Perisot. 

However, Schwentke is directing the second of Parker’s comic book based films opening in theaters on July 19th entitled R.I.P.D., which is based on the Dark Horse comic book Rest in Peace Department by Peter M. Lenkov. In addition to Parker, the film features an excellent cast of actors that includes Academy Award-winner Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, and Kevin Bacon. The movie follows a recently slain/deceased young cop (Reynolds) who joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department, as they try to find the man that murdered him. 

I recently had a chance to speak with award winning actress Mary Louise Parker at the Sonoma International Film Festival where she was receiving yet another award, the festival’s Spotlight Award, along with her Weed’s co-star and Academy Award-nominee Demian Bichir. I took the opportunity to ask the actress a little bit about her two upcoming comic book based films, RED 2 and R.I.P.D.

Over the last few years, the WWE wrestler-turned-actor and major box office draw, now known simply as Dwayne Johnson, has made a career of joining sequels that need a little help invigorating their franchises. It began with Fast Five, the fifth installment of The Fast and the Furious series, which went on to be the most successful film in the franchise so far. He also breathed life into Journey 2: Mystery Island, which was the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth. The actor will soon be seen in Fast & Furious 6, the follow up to Fast Five that opens in theaters on May 24th, as well as Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon, which will be in theaters next year. But first, Johnson is saving yet another franchise with his turn as the beloved G.I. Joe character Roadblock in G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which is the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and will open in theaters on March 28th.

While the first film, which is of course based on the popular Hasbro line of toys, comic books and cartoon series, was a box office hit earning over $300 million world wide, it failed to score with critics and longtime fans of the property. Now with Johnson on board as well as action legend Bruce Willis (A Good Day to Die Hard), the Joes are back with a more action orientated film than its predecessor, which was criticized for having too many comedic elements. G.I. Joe: Retaliation is directed by Jon M. Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never), and revolves around the Joes being framed as traitors by Zartan (Arnold Vosloo), who is still posing as the President of the United States (Jonathan Pryce) in the aftermath of the first film. Cobra Commander eventually escapes from prison and takes all the world leaders under control, aiming their advanced warheads at innocent countries around the world. It is now up to the few Joes left, which include Roadblock, Snake-Eyes (Ray Park), Flint (D.J. Cotrona), Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki), Jinx (Elodie Yung), and General Joseph Colton (Willis) – the man the team is named after – to stop Cobra Commander and Zartan, who are being aided by Storm Shadow (Lee Byung-Hun) and Firefly (Ray Stevenson), before it is too late.

I recently had a chance to sit down with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, along with a few other members of the press, at a roundtable discussion to talk about his work on G.I. Joe: Retaliation, as well as his April 7th match with John Cena at WrestleMania 29, Fast & Furious 6, and possibly appearing in The Expendables 3. The extremely popular actor discussed his new film, how he has become the film franchise savior, preparing physically for his role, being a fan of G.I. Joe as a kid, what he wanted to incorporate and also not use from Roadblock’s mythology, working with the cast, teaming up with fellow action superstar Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum’s resemblance to his wrestling archenemy John Cena, returning to the WWE for WrestleMania 29, how he is preparing for his fight with Cena, Fast & Furious 6, whether or not Eva Mendes will appear in the film, if the rumors are true that Jason Statham will have a cameo in the end credit scene, and if he is open to joining the cast of The Expendables 3.
